There are 4 ‘popular’ types of Battery manufactured today.

• Sealed for life (SFL) a flooded lead acid battery, that never needs topping up.
• Flooded Lead Acid (FLA)
• Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid), a totally sealed battery giving high starting performance and deep cycling capability
• Gel (GEL) VRLA – similar to AGM, except that an immobilised electrolyte is used. GEL cells will not stratify, thicker plates are used (3.4mm) and are more tolerant to deeper cycling.
